Details

An aftermarket Rear Handbrake Cable for the Hilux Pickups Mk4 LN165 & Mk5 KDN165 and Imports as listed, manufactured by PNC, a leading worldwide supplier. Fits both single and Double Cabs.

The cable fits across the rear axle and attaches onto the rear handbrake bell crank levers on backing plates, at the other end is a long threaded rod to adjust your handbrake tension, this fits just in front of the fuel tank on the pull lever bracket, the front cable would then also connect onto this bracket.

Top Tip:
We are often asked about poor handbrake adjustment, assuming that all the rear brakes and pull levers are in good order and free from defect, the best way to obtain a good handbrake is to:

Remove the handbrake tension completely, either at the rod or even disconnecting from the backing plate so that the cable is doing nothing,
Then in the backing plate is an oval hole with a grommet, adjust the rear brakes either side through this hole using a screwdriver on the internal ratchet
Leave the wheels on so that you can spin them to a good feel when the shoe just starts to touch the drum, these are then set
Attach the handbrake cable and adjust up at the rod to get a good feel to the handbrake.

By carrying out this procedure you can be sure to get a good handbrake.
