A Genuine Toyota NOK butadiene rubber rear inner axle oil seal for the Hilux Pickup models KUN25 & KUN26 from 2005- mid-2008 dates as listed below and fits the earlier 50mm outer diameter retaining collar, comes pre-greased by Toyota for initial running in.
Compatible with chassis numbers starting;
MR0 - UP TO>August/2008 &
AHT - UP TO>October/2008
Fits directly into the axle casing, it is revealed when you remove the complete rear half shaft.
Its purpose is to stop the flow of oil from leaving the differential casing and contaminating the bearing and brake shoe area.
The tough rigid metal cased nitrile butadiene rubber (NBR) provides the best possible seal to the axle housing. Nitrile butadiene rubber seals have an outstanding resistance to oils, fuels, heat & abrasion, and of course being a Genuine seal you're guaranteed quality and fit.
Seal fitting Tips:
- Extreme care must be taken when removing and fitting any oil seal but especially this one. Never remove by driving a screwdriver between the seal and the casing it fits into, oil could pass by any marks on the casing.
- Always clean the area the seal will fit into, brake & clutch parts cleaner is excellent for this. Make sure the seal fits squarely into the casing and never damage a seal on assembly, a deformed seal will leak.
- The oil seal will have a spring on the lip side of the seal, always fit a seal with the spring against the flow of oil it’s holding back and make sure it doesn't come off when tapping in a new oil seal.
- Always smear any oil seal with a light film of the oil it's holding back, this will prevent the seal from getting hot on initial use and causing early failure.
- And finally check your axle breather on top the casing, if blocked this can cause oil to be forced pass an oil seal.
Making sure a few fundamental precautions are carried out when fitting this seal will certainly prolong the life and prevent the seal from leaking again.
