A Genuine Toyota Voltage Regulator for the Toyota Hilux pickups 1984-1997, fits both Petrol and Diesel models, saving approx. 28% off RRP.
As the name suggests the Voltage regulator maintains the voltage output created from the alternator, some alternators have them built into them whilst others have them externally like this one which bolts on the inner wing, usually drivers side by the fuse box.
It is a square black box with Voltage Regulator marked on, from the box is a short loom with large block connector.

When a regulator fails, the limits on how much power an alternator can produce disappear. This leaves the alternator free to produce its maximum level of power. Doing so, without using restrictions, can lead to problems such as:

Overcharging a battery
Damaging electrical components
Burning out the alternator
Dashboard lights can come on

So when you get a charging issue or dashboard light on, don't just assume it's the alternator, it could be the external voltage regulator, what's more if you do fit a new alternator then always test the voltage regulator as well, afteral, this could be the reason the alternator failed the first time. It's always good practice to look for the reasons why a component has failed and not just replace the obvious component.

We've now decided to only supply the Original Toyota Voltage regulator as aftermarket alternatives simply don't last as long, we're also saving around 28% off the RRP.

Please NB - Checking Output once installed:

Toyota state Regulating Voltage should be between 13.5 -14.8 Volts, they have designed the regulator to be adjustable, so once fitted you can regulate the out put from underneath the cover if necessary.
Please check with your technician or owners manual on setting the voltage output if necessary.
