NON-AHC standard suspension conversion kit for independent front suspension (IFS) HDJ100 & HDJ101 Series Diesel Land Cruisers, features Australian suspension components from Pedders.
This kit is designed to convert your original Active Height Control (AHC) suspension system into standard non-adjustable suspension setup with the ride height near to standard or as listed.
If you don't have active height control fitted then this kit will simply replace your existing standard shocks, coils, and Torsion bars.
This kit comprises of everything you will need to replace the AHC suspension which comprises of quality components. The shock absorbers are manufactured by Pedders as are the coil springs Spring Rate: 204 Lbs/in and the heavy-duty torsion bars (1212mm long) and control arm strengthening brackets.
For the full spec of each product within this conversion kit please see the individual products below - Kit only fits models with the 1212mm long Torsion bars (usually fittd to HDJ100 / 101)
- As with all suspension shocks/coils supplied, paint is not covered under warranty due to the very nature and position of the component.
- Always ensure your front wheel alignment and geometry is checked after installation.

Replacing the complete AHC suspension system on your 100 Series Land Cruiser can run into thousands of pounds; this demonstrates how unaffordable it is to replace a single part of your AHC suspension system let alone the complete system. The main cause of AHC systems failing are the springs sagging which causes additional weight/pressure on the shock absorbers, therefore added pressure on the hydraulic pump, sensors & spheres triggering warning lights on the dash.
Disabling Dashlight instructions:
In our "Download" tab are Pedders complete detailed instructions to disable the dashlights (should they come on) to ensure that no warning lights are displayed after fitment which is essential for MOT’s.
Ride Heights:
The ride height can vary pending original vehicles bushes etc, below will provide you with a good idea of the ride height after installing the lift kit, from this you can compare against your existing ride height. It is not designed as a lift kit.
Ride heights are taken from the bottom of the wheel rim vertically up to the wheel arch: -
Ride heights are provided from a standard HDJ100 Land Cruiser that was fitted with AHC, now replaced with this kit.
Wheel diameters will affect this ride height so we have provided dimensions with 2 common wheel sizes -
you can adjust dimensions by 12.5mm (1/2") accordingly if running different size wheels.
Rear ride height: - bottom of rim up to arch: - usually a 10mm discrepancy (Provided by customers)
16" rims = 775 mm
17" rims = 787 mm
18" rims = 800 mm
Front ride height: -
As this is Torsion bar suspension the mechanic fitting can adjust the ride height to suit the rear.
This kit is NOT compatible with the UZJ100 Petrol 4.5 V8 which has shorter torsion bars.

Do I need to remove all the original plumbing etc?
In general customers feedback, who have used this kit or indeed similar kit's, have tended to leave the original plumbing in place. Of course this is entirely down to the customer or the mechanic carrying out the work.
This kit simply takes it back to a suspension that some HDJ100 models had when AHC wasn't fitted.
Any problems fitting?
Again, as we don't fit we are going on a general feedback from customers. In short this is basic suspension work, 4 shocks, 2 coils and a pair of torsion bars to fit, the issues come with the age of a vehicle or location, in other words, corrosion!
Apparently the rear shock absorber top mounts can be a pain as they fit very close to the bodywork, maybe worth looking at these, we'd also suggest liberal use of WD40 prior especially on the Torsion bar adjust bolts !!
What are the brackets for?
When fitting high-grade uprated torsion bars more stress is put into the mounting points, these support brackets simply bolt on to increase the chassis thickness and prevent stress points.
What about dashboard warning lights?
There is a chance that a dash warning light may come on as of course you are changing the suspension, you will need your mechanic to address this.
Is this a reliable suspension going forward?
Very much so, converting back to basic Gas shock absorbers with uprated coils and Torsion bars is widely used especially in Countries such as Australia and Africa.
And should any part fail out of warranty we can replace any individual component or like for like.
What's it like for Towing?
The Pedders rear coils are an uprated thicker coil as only these are now taking the vehicle weight whereas the original AHC setup used both the damper and coil to adjust the ride. Again several customers using this setup have towed caravans and alike, feedback has been that the rear coils and shocks have proved an excellent overall ride and have been very pleased.......especially with the price !!
